One year on MFP…I have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving:
MFP – to be able to track my food & exercise to help keep me on track
- MFP – success boards – to remind me that will be me one day 🙂
- MFP – friends – to help keep me motivated & on track & not go it alone
- I can now bend over & tie my shoes.
- I can now cross my legs.
- I can walk up a flight of stairs easily.
- I no longer feel like I’m being suffocated by my own fat.
- I sleep better.
- My acid reflux is a better under control.
- I am healthier & get sick less.
- I have lost over 30 pounds and kept them off, even if I haven’t been on track all the time.
- I have some muscle definition.
- I am starting to get a waist line.
- I have gone down from a 3x to a 1x in clothes.
- I have gained control of my sweet tooth.
- I eat healthier…avoid fast food, make my own food more and try new recipes
- Pinterest & my blog reader – I’m addicted to finding healthy recipes to try
- My scale – to let me know if I’m staying on track…though that is not the only way to measure your success 🙂
- I’ve almost given up diet soda completely.
- I’ve learned what it takes for me to be successful – what works & what doesn’t
- I more often want to workout when severely stressed versus reach for that Snickers bar.
- I have learned lessons through my weightloss journey that I’ve been able to apply to my life and life lessons I’ve been able to apply to my weightloss journey.
- I can say no to all the food people bring in to work & not feel deprived when I’m eating my baby carrots & almonds and they are eating cake.
- I’ve added healthy foods I had never tried before to my meals regularly – like chickpeas!
- I can go to the grocery store without a list and know what to buy because I know the calorie counts of things…and piece together my meals for the week right in the middle of the store while I shop.
- I almost almost never tempted by all the candy in the stores anymore. Lately, I look at the Halloween aisles & most stuff actually just makes my stomach turn just looking at it.
- When I eat something bad, like give in to some candy or something, I end up feeling sick.
- I will try recipes that seemed just plain weird to me before…like pancakes made w/cottage cheese and no flour.
- I am more “centered” and less an emotional wreck.
- My chiropractor…who puts humpty dumpty back together again…and makes my knees not hurt anymore 🙂
- I can adjust to food & menus on weeks where I don’t have much grocery money & still eat healthy and not let that be an excuse to not stay on track.
- I am more proactive. I plan out meals for the week & cook them & divvy them up for indiviudal meals for the week. I put my holiday recipes into MFP & then decide what & how much I’m going to eat, so I am making an informed choice. If I know I’m not going to get a workout in on Friday, then I go today even if I am tired, because I’m already losing a day.
- I believe every little bit counts & have seen it. So if I’m not gonna get to the gym today, I make an extra effort to do something like walk on my breaks at work & speed it up while I’m at it, because that is all the exercise I’m gonna get that day.
- I have learned a lot about myself personally & have had a lot of internal NSV’s.
- I can go to a restaurant & not be tempted to order the more unhealthy items, but stick to the healthier items & still be satisfied.
- To outsiders, I am a healthy eater. Who knew? I am a health nut 🙂
- My mom & sister – who encourages me to keep up the great work & that I’m doing a great job
- I’ve learned how strong I really am, because it has taken a lot of work, discipline, blood, sweat and tears, to lose those 30 pounds & keep them off.
- My gym & curves – because I can’t exercise really at home being on the 2nd floor.
- I may not be where I want to be but thank God I’m not where I used to be.
