Reading the Scale
I like one that is digital & has the ability to save weights
2. Weigh yourself first thing in morning after using the bathroom.
You are at your lightest weight. I like knowing what my lightest weight is :).
3. Weigh yourself the same time of day each time.
Your weight fluctuates throughout the day, so weighing yourself at the same time of day each time (like first thing
in the morning or after work), will give you a more accurate weightloss result than if you weighed one week in the
morning and the next after work.
4. Weigh yourself on the same scale everytime.
Whatever day & time you choose for your weigh-in, make sure you use the same scale every time. You will find that
scales vary. You go to the doctor or the gym and you will get a different amount than you do at home. To track your
weightloss accurately, use the same scale each time.
The only scales that are truly accurate are ones that are governed by the U.S. Weights and Measures.
5. Weigh yourself with the same amount of clothes on or off.
I weigh myself naked so that I have my true weight. The clothes you have on your body will add to your weight. So
make sure it is the same amount of clothes each time you weigh yourself. If you wear shorts & gym shoes on the
scale, do it each time to have an accurate reading.
6. Determine how often you will measure yourself.
Most common is weekly. I weigh myself every day, not as an obsession, but to know if I am staying on track. If I ate
badly one day and saw that I gained 3 pounds the very next day, I can make adjustments to my diet and exercise
immediately to start getting back on track…rather than waiting a week later to find out the damage that I had done.
If you are a weekly weigh-er, keep in mind that your weight fluctuates daily. You may weigh yourself and not have any
weightloss or very little or even look like you gained. You may have just weighed yourself on what I call an “off day”.
Then you may find the next time you weigh yourself, there is a huge loss, since you didn’t see it on the day you had
weighed yourself previously.
The disadvantage to weighing yourself daily is not seeing the bigger numbers. It is easy to see a half pound here &
half pound there and not feel like your losing much cause your not seeing it in the bigger number. It is important to keep
your own running total each week, so you see that you actually did lose 2.5 pounds this week after you add it all up. It
helps not to get discouraged with your progress.
So following the information above, in order to have the most accurate readings and weigh myself at my lowest possible weights, I weigh myself first thing after getting up & going to the bathroom. I strip myself naked, weigh myself and log it. Then go about my morning routine, getting ready for the day.
